A 30-meter Christmas train rolls into Hong Kong! The Harbour City shines bright this holiday season

Every Christmas, Santa Claus travels around the world in a sleigh to deliver gifts. This year, Santa has made a special appearance aboard a Christmas train, arriving in Hong Kong from November 7, 2014, to January 4, 2015, where he will meet the public at Harbour City.

This Christmas, Harbour City has adopted the theme “Christmas Star City,” transforming the outdoor plaza of Ocean Terminal into a Christmas train station dominated by red, white, and gold hues. Parked at the station is a 30-meter-long “Christmas train” covered in stars. The chimney of the giant steam locomotive also emits countless stars, and in the evening, lighting and smoke effects create the illusion that the train is moving, adding to the romantic ambiance. The next two carriages feature a 3-meter-tall snowman, a large bear, and Christmas balls. Visitors who donate HK$20 to the Hong Kong Leukemia Foundation can board the “Christmas train” and have the chance to take a photo with Santa Claus.

Inside the Christmas train station, there are several uniquely themed “shops” stretching from the plaza up to the grand staircase. Four large display windows opposite the train are decorated with Christmas themes including a Ferris wheel, teddy bears, snow-capped mountains, and fashion. Visitors can even step into the fashion-themed window to take photos and play the role of top models. The ceiling of the grand staircase is densely adorned with large hexagonal stars and star-shaped lights, along with over ten sparkling star-shaped frames of varying sizes, creating the appearance of a giant three-dimensional Christmas star from afar.
