The light festivals held annually in Osaka at the end of the year,“Osaka Light Renaissance” and “Midosuji Illumination” kick off on December 1st and run until January 18th, 2015, with dazzling lights adding a splash of color to Osaka’s nightscape. In addition to the lighting display in front of Osaka City Hall, this year’s Midosuji Illumination has been extended from 1.9 kilometers last year to 3 kilometers, stretching all the way from Yodoyabashi to the Namba West Exit intersection, creating one of the most magical lightscapes in Osaka. After 5 PM during the event period, visitors can enjoy four different colors of light decorations along the streets, as well as LED light displays that simulate a winter cherry blossom scene.

The Light Renaissance takes place on Nakanoshima Island, showcasing a grand and magnificent light festival. Visitors can walk along the route from Osaka City Hall to Nakanoshima Park, enjoying a variety of novel and unique light displays, as well as works by artists who traveled all the way from Lyon, France. At the same time, you can also savor delicious food at cafes and markets, and enjoy live music performances.
