Cycle through breathtaking scenery – Taiwan makes its first debut in the epic "Guam Triathlon"

The physically and mentally demanding "Guam Triathlon Standard Race" will kick off on July 17. This event has been held for over 15 years and includes a 1,500-meter swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run — all at the same distances as the Olympic standard triathlon. For the first time this year, a team from Taiwan will be participating, aiming to provide sports enthusiasts with a unique competitive experience through international exchange.

The Chinese Long-Distance Running Association will lead Taiwanese athletes to Guam for the first time this year. Secretary-General Li Kuo-Hsien noted that after participating in the Guam International Marathon in April, they were impressed by the island’s stunning natural scenery and well-managed traffic and support systems, which allowed participants to perform at their best. Upon returning to Taiwan, he immediately gathered a group of triathletes to form a team, hoping to offer more sports lovers a distinctive competitive experience.

To welcome the Taiwanese athletes, the organizers — the Guam Triathlon Association — will not only offer a registration fee discount but also assist with transporting the cyclists’ equipment on race day. The Chinese Long-Distance Running Association will also provide free entry slots for the Guam triathlon team to join next spring’s triathlon event in Taitung, Taiwan. This initiative aims to continue fostering sports exchanges between Taiwan and Guam, enabling athletes to challenge themselves in new environments, build friendships, and celebrate mutual growth.
