The highly anticipated “Tokyo Disneyland 35th Anniversary Special Parade” kicked off as scheduled, with Mickey, Minnie, and other Disney characters like Pluto, Duffy, and ShellieMay wearing specially tailored raincoats, standing...Dream Cruiser IIIon floats, alongside Disney dancers, captivating the audience. Around 70 Taiwanese children also performed with the Disney stars, earning thunderous applause from fans.
The parade drew massive crowds, with even the floor-to-ceiling windows of nearby restaurants packed with onlookers.
The heavy rain likely deterred many who had planned to attend, as inquiries about cancellation poured in the night before. Most visitors came specifically for the Disney parade, with some traveling from central and southern Taiwan just to see it. Families with children also reconsidered due to the weather.
Many spectators brought umbrellas, which unfortunately obstructed the view for others.
By noon on the 24th, organizers confirmed the parade would proceed as planned, advising attendees to wear raincoats. While free raincoats were distributed on-site, limited supply and distribution points meant not everyone received one. Most visitors had already brought umbrellas, making it impractical to wear raincoats. Add to that the desire to record and take photos—many opted for umbrellas to protect their gear, resulting in a spectacular sea of umbrellas.
A few attendees brought their own raincoats, and children were fully equipped.
Parade spectators generally fell into two groups: those who came specifically for the Disney parade and those who were just passing by or had spare time. The former included both fans who had seen Tokyo Disneyland parades before and those experiencing one for the first time—either way, expectations were high. With heavy promotion of the Disney parade as a highlight, and knowing Tokyo Disneyland always has rain backups, cancellation seemed unlikely.
