On a chilly day, wouldn’t it be nice to have a warm bowl of stewed food after work? This small wish can be fulfilled in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Starting November 13, 2015, Toyohashi reintroduced the “Mobile Train Stall,” a train that runs along the city’s tracks, serving the local specialty—chikuwa oden. Of course, Japan’s favorite beer is also available, and for those feeling hungry, there are bento boxes to enjoy. Passengers can take in the city scenery while soaking in the lively atmosphere of drinks and good company.

The interior of the “Mobile Train Stall” is designed differently from regular trains, featuring long rows of tables and chairs adorned with red lanterns and curtains. Paired with warm oden and beer, passengers in the mood can even sing karaoke using the built-in karaoke system, making the experience feel like a lively night at an izakaya. The 9.6-kilometer journey, taking just over an hour, is guaranteed to be fun and fulfilling.
