2015 Tainan Flower Festival: Giant Gingerbread Man Cute and Eye-Catching

The 2015 Tainan Flower Festival is about to kick off. This year, under the concept of “Flowers Blooming Everywhere,” the event is spread across six small and medium-sized parks. The exhibition runs from February 14th, Valentine’s Day, with a grand opening, and will close on March 5th. Currently, many installation artworks have been displayed in open spaces, attracting numerous visitors to admire and take photos.

This year, the Flower Festival venues include not only the existing Nanying Green Heart in Xinying District and Jiali Park in Jiali District but also, in line with the promotion of “One Park per District,” newly added sites such as the Liujia Multi-Function Sports Park and Xigang Central Park, plus the South District Shuiping Park and Shuijiao She Park—making a total of six parks over 20 days. The festival is designed around “Four Major Themes: Lifestyle & Cultural Creativity ‘Love Tainan’; Food & Historic City ‘Savor Tainan’; Industry Features ‘Fun Tainan’; and Waterways, Tech & Art ‘Art Tainan’.” At the entrance of each exhibition area, insect hotel art that combines green walls and ecological awareness is used as a symbolic entrance feature, representing an eco-lifestyle vision of harmony and pleasant living. A cute little sheep holding a sign, themed around the Year of the Goat, is also installed at the entrance to enhance visitors’ first impressions.

The design content of the four major themes across the six parks is as follows:
● Lifestyle & Cultural Creativity ‘Love Tainan’: Features colorful cloud formations by Leihou, aerial parade displays by Leihou, aircraft installation art, wildflower fields, and creative floral zones, telling the story of the Shuijiao She Air Force Veterans' Village culture.

● Food & Historic City ‘Savor Tainan’: Showcases dreamy and classic desserts through installations such as shaded flower fields, rainbow balloons, flower field hot air balloons, pineapple owls, mountain-star citrus creations, banana-like fruit designs, tri-color bean flowers, pomelo cats bringing good fortune, fantasy fruit ice, and traditional mooncakes with red bean paste—all set in Shuiping Park.

● Industry Features ‘Fun Tainan’: The Xigang Central Park, Jiali Park, and Liujia Multi-Function Leisure Sports Park are each decorated to reflect regional characteristics such as hemp and millet industries, forest reading experiences, and anthurium flower meanings.
● Waterways, Tech & Art ‘Art Tainan’: Nanying Green Heart Park in Xinying uses the imagery of a city kaleidoscope, featuring installations like shimmering wafers reflecting floral splendor, swans spreading love across Nanying, light mirror floral portals, prism blue-green floral reflections, and flowers reflecting Tainan as a livable city.
