The famous "Galaxy Tank" at Hakodate Noboribetsu Nixe Ocean Park has reopened on April 25th. With around 10,000 sardines swimming in schools accompanied by lights and music, it presents different seasonal vibes to visitors. From now until May 31st, the Galaxy Tank will be featuring a spring version themed around cherry blossoms and fresh sprouts in full swing.

Noboribetsu Nixe Ocean Park is a marine park full of Nordic style. Its ocean ecology hall, modeled after Egeskov Castle in Denmark, is a massive aquarium where you can see over 400 species and more than 10,000 creatures. Inside the facility, there is an underwater tunnel for experiencing a stroll on the seabed, an exhibition area where you can touch marine life, dolphin and sea lion performances, offering enjoyment for both adults and children. In the basement, the huge "Galaxy Tank" houses 10,000 sardines and sharks. The spectacular scene of thousands of sardines swimming in schools, combined with dazzling lights and music, showcases different seasonal moods. The silver bodies of the fish, illuminated by lights, dart quickly in patterns that are sometimes rhythmic, sometimes chaotic, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Additionally, the adorable penguins’ twice-daily walk in Nixe Castle Plaza is a highlight not to be missed.
