In early summer at Alishan, besides fireflies, romantic wisteria flowers are also blooming in the mountains. Currently, it’s officially the peak season for wisteria blooms in Alishan National Scenic Area. The many-flowered wisteria displays clusters of purple to blue-purple blossoms hanging down in strands, fluttering in the wind like curtains. Within Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, you can admire wisteria at spots including Ciyun Temple, Alpine Botanical Garden, Alishan Hotel, Guest House, Zhongshan Village Residential Area, Zhaoping Park, and Huaxinyuan in the shopping area. The blooming period is expected to last until mid-May, so visitors should hurry to catch the view.

● Alpine Botanical Garden
The Alpine Botanical Garden is located midway along the trail to the Mt. Ogasawara Viewpoint, about 340 meters from Zhushan Station.

The Guest House in Alishan was used during the Japanese colonial period as a residence for Japanese royalty and high-ranking police officers visiting Alishan. The entire building is constructed from the region’s unique cypress wood.
