Yayoi Kusama’s café pop-up arrives at Huashan

The Japanese polka-dot artist Yayoi Kusama launched her Asian tour exhibition in Kaohsiung this February, with the show moving to Taichung in June. Although there are currently no plans for an exhibition in Taipei, fans shouldn’t be disappointed. From May through September, Taipei’s Huashan 1914 Creative Park is hosting a Taipei-exclusive Yayoi Kusama Café, allowing fans in the capital to experience the charm of her iconic dots as well.

Step into the Yayoi Kusama Café cultural space at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, and you’ll find polka dots in red and white covering everything from the ceiling and walls to the coffee tables and chairs—so many that visitors can’t help but grab their cameras for endless photos. The highlight of this limited-time café is the Yayoi Kusama Pumpkin Pie, featuring a mousse made with imported Japanese pumpkin and a pumpkin stem crafted from green tea cookies produced in Shizuoka, Japan, creating an exquisite flavor combination. There’s also a light cheesecake decorated with raspberries and black sesame to resemble “dots,” both developed by Taiwanese bakers and approved as limited-edition sweets by the Yayoi Kusama studio. In addition, visitors can purchase exclusive merchandise from Yayoi Kusama’s “The Dreams That I Dreamed” special exhibition. A must-visit for all Kusama fans.The Yayoi Kusama Café cultural space is located at Huashan Building 4, open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. From now on, spend NT$500 in-store to receive one free admission ticket to “The Dreams That I Dreamed.”
