Golden daylilies and white lilies vie in splendor—The enchanting sea of flowers in Taipei’s backyard

As spring transitions into summer, seas of flowers are blooming across Taiwan. In Neihu’s Baishihu, known as the “back garden of Taipei,” golden daylilies and lilies are currently in full bloom, creating a stunning contrast of orange and white. The flowering season is expected to last until early June, so now is the perfect time to enjoy the blooms over a weekend getaway.

In recent years, Baishihu has designed the “Heart-to-Heart Pond” and the “Eternal Bond Pavilion” with the theme of “happiness,” forming an image of “tying the knot.” The pond is surrounded by pure and elegant lilies, symbolizing a mother’s great love as she embraces her child. When sunlight shines on the spotless white lilies, a faint, refreshing fragrance wafts through the air, leaving beautiful memories in people’s hearts. This spot often attracts couples who come here to take photos and leave behind tokens of their love.

Additionally, with the completion of the Baishihu Suspension Bridge, the entire leisure and recreational route has been fully connected. Attractions such as the “Heart-to-Heart Pond,” “Eternal Bond Pavilion,” “Guizhui Pond,” “Couple Trees,” and “Spring-Autumn Trail” are now linked together, successfully transforming the urban-rural landscape. Moreover, to make flower viewing more convenient and safe for visitors, a pedestrian-vehicle separation project was recently completed on the road above the Heart-to-Heart Pond. The railings feature a design of double hearts paired with green leaves forming a flower—the red double hearts echo the Heart-to-Heart Pond, radiating an atmosphere of happiness. The pink flowers symbolize a vibrant plant-filled environment, while the green leaves highlight the rich rural charm.
