The Starbuck’s Lukang branch opens, combining craftsmanship features to become a hot topic

Combining local craft characteristics, the first-ever Starbucks in Lukang, Changhua, officially opened on June 20 in the Lukang commercial area. With the appearance of a traditional white Lukang lantern and elements such as local bamboo weaving and block printing incorporated, it plays creatively with Lukang’s traditional charm. The new Starbucks Lukang outlet hopes to inject a fresh style and character into the old town.

The Starbucks Lukang branch is located on the bustling Zhongzheng Road in Lukang Township. It is a standalone building that incorporates local crafts. The exterior design takes inspiration from traditional Lukang lanterns, creating the first outlet with a local artisanal style. Covering an area of approximately 90 ping, it offers 122 seats. The interior space includes four distinct areas: a floor-to-ceiling window scenic zone, a group gathering area, two side stand zones, and a coffee time zone, providing customers with a rich variety of rest spaces while enjoying their coffee.

In addition to its eye-catching unique exterior, the new outlet also incorporates traditional local elements such as wood carvings, jar walls, bamboo weaving, and hemp ropes for decoration. It further integrates local block printing techniques, adorning columns with patterns of coffee leaves, beans, fruits, and flowers. Thoughtful local touches can be found throughout. Moreover, to celebrate the opening of the Lukang branch, an exclusive mug has been launched, featuring hand-drawn illustrations of Lukang imagery including deer, bamboo, and lanterns. The hope is that every guest who visits Starbucks can enjoy not only a cup of coffee but also the deep, simple cultural charm of Lukang.
