Power at Taoyuan Airport’s Terminal 2 restored to 80% but still no air conditioning  Netizens: Don’t wear too much or you’ll roast on your flight

Taoyuan Airport was affected by heavy rain on the 2nd, with flooding both inside and outside the terminals, which also caused issues with the high-voltage electrical panel in Terminal 2. The airport authority stated that power has currently been restored to 80%, but some air conditioning systems and electric boarding ramps are still without electricity. Netizens have also reminded that the terminal’s indoor temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius, and if you’re flying from Terminal 2, don’t wear too much or you’ll overheat.

Taoyuan Airport is making every effort today to restore related facilities. Following the reopening of the Terminal Link South Road and Terminal Link North Road for external traffic at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. yesterday, as of 3 p.m. today (the 3rd), power in Terminal 2 has been restored to 80%, and entry and exit operations have returned to normal, but some air conditioning systems and electric boarding ramps are still without electricity.

Taoyuan Airport stated that Taiwan Power Company has dispatched a professional team to provide technical assistance and is working at full capacity to repair the faulty power equipment, hoping to restore all power within 48 hours, though it may take until the day after tomorrow at the earliest. Some netizens have kindly reminded that the air conditioning is not yet fixed and the temperature in Terminal 2 is around 30 degrees Celsius, so if you’re flying from Terminal 2 in the coming days, don’t wear too much. In response, Taoyuan Airport has deployed industrial-grade large fans and ice blocks to help cool down the terminal.

In addition, the six flights that did not depart yesterday had all been cleared by 3:20 p.m. Regarding luggage, which passengers were concerned about, the airport company coordinated with delivery service providers to fully support 24-hour inbound luggage transfer operations, and all 1,500 pieces of luggage had been sent out by 1 p.m. today.

As for the food court in the basement of Terminal 2, the accumulated water was cleared by 4 p.m. on the 2nd. Today (the 3rd), after completing cleaning and disinfection, the shops will resume full operations in line with the terminal’s power restoration schedule. The airport company will continue to work towards restoring normal airport operations as quickly as possible and will handle passenger compensation appropriately.

Taoyuan Airport stated that it will definitely take a responsible approach to promptly investigate the cause of the disaster, make immediate improvements, and enhance disaster prevention and emergency response measures and capabilities to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.
