Situated in Nantou County in central Taiwan at an altitude of 750 meters, Sun Moon Lake is one of the most popular tourist spots for couples. The name of the lake, Sun Moon, originates from Lalu Island, which divides the lake into two parts resembling a crescent moon and a full moon. Nestled within uniquely serene and beautiful mountain scenery, it covers an area of eight square kilometers, making it the largest lake in Taiwan.

Due to Sun Moon Lake’s distinctive geographical charm, it is often considered the most romantic tourist destination in Taiwan, making it a prime spot for couples and young newlyweds on honeymoons or leisure trips. Moreover, every year the government hosts the “Sail Around Sun Moon Lake” event during the Mid-Autumn Festival, attracting over ten thousand participants each time—an extraordinary spectacle well worth seeing or experiencing firsthand.
