Race to Be the King of Summer Adventures: Thrilling Canyoning and Bungee Jumping Tours Along the North Cross-Island Highway

The North Cross-Island Highway is currently the only fully operational and beautiful among Taiwan’s three major cross-island highways. Starting from Daxi, it passes through Cihu, Jiaobanshan, and Little Wulai, winding all the way up to Lalashan — all extremely popular tourist spots. The Taoyuan City Government Tourism Bureau has specially organized the “2015 North Cross-Island Tourism Festival – King of Summer Adventures” event from July 11 to July 26, featuring four major activities across four parks along the North Cross-Island Highway. Whether it’s the heart-pounding bungee jumping, the refreshing canyoning experience, the brain-teasing orienteering treasure hunt, or the family-friendly picnic fun, this summer’s North Cross-Island Tourism Festival will satisfy every traveler’s sense of adventure.

The North Cross-Island Tourism Festival kicks off on July 11. The first-week event, “Summer Peach Treasure Orienteering Hunt,” takes place on July 11 and 12 at Cihu Sculpture Park, which houses the world’s largest collection of Chiang Kai-shek statues. Not only does it boast beautiful natural scenery, but also features various uniquely shaped sculptures, allowing you to fully explore the beauty of Cihu. Following that is the limited-time, limited-quota “Baling Summer Leap” bungee jumping event, held on July 17, 18, 25, and 26 in the Lalashan area. Take the plunge from the Baling Suspension Bridge, watch the breathtaking views of Lalashan flash by your peripheral vision, and feel the valley rushing up beneath your feet as you challenge your courage this summer.

The second week also features the “Pink Love Picnic Day” on July 18 and 19 at Jiaobanshan Park. There will be a beautiful pink princess for photo opportunities and fun with everyone, as well as special picnic packs made with local ingredients for the whole family to enjoy a wonderful day together. A mystery escape game is also planned to satisfy the curiosity of every escape room fan with its fun and brain-teasing design. The final week wraps up perfectly with the “Cool Summer Stream Adventure” on July 25 and 26 at Little Wulai Park, offering a refreshing and fun canyoning experience that challenges your agility. Or join the challenge events organized by the hosts — complete the challenges and receive a limited-edition bamboo water gun, making everyone a member of the Water Gun Task Force. In addition, there’s also a cute yellow rubber duck play area, where a pool full of little ducks keeps you cool all summer long.
