Emirates A380 Mega Aircraft Makes Its Grand Debut in Taiwan

With an extensive global network, Emirates has seen steady growth in the Taiwanese market since launching its Taipei-Dubai route in 2014, carrying over 280,000 passengers. To meet the demand from Taiwanese travelers for Emirates' products and services, the airline's A380 made a one-time flight from Dubai and arrived at Taoyuan International Airport to meet Taiwanese passengers. Emirates also became the first airline to operate an A380 double-deck aircraft passenger flight to Taiwan after the completion of the renovation of the southern runway at Taoyuan Airport and the construction of new smart double-deck airbridges.

Emirates Flight EK366, operated by the A380, departed Dubai at 4:05 AM local time and arrived at C2 Stand of Terminal 2 at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 4:40 PM. The debut event of the A380’s first flight to Taipei was celebrated with performances by indigenous children singing traditional songs and lion dances to welcome the arrival of the first A380. The press conference was attended by Liu Jung-jhu, Vice President of Emirates for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Guangzhou; Fan Chih-ku, Executive Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications; and Fei Hung-chun, General Manager of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation.

Liu Jung-jhu, Vice President of Emirates for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Guangzhou, said: “Emirates is honored to be the first airline to fly the A380 aircraft into Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Taiwan is a very important market for Emirates. Since we launched the Taipei–Dubai route in 2014, we have witnessed the growing demand, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to introduce our iconic A380 aircraft and its unique offerings to Taiwanese travelers.”

Fei Hung-chun, General Manager of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, also stated: “Today, we are honored to welcome the arrival of the Emirates A380 aircraft together with our distinguished guests. The airport company and all our staff take great pride in this. After a year of preparation and the airport renovation project, the arrival of the A380 affirms the capabilities of Taoyuan Airport’s facilities, equipment, and professionalism.”

The A380 cabin features 14 private first-class suites, each equipped with a massage function; 76 business class seats that can be adjusted into fully flat beds up to 87 inches long; and 401 spacious economy class seats. Two exquisitely designed onboard spa showers offer first-class passengers a comfortable and enjoyable journey. The onboard lounge provides a variety of fine wines and delicate snacks, creating a vibrant social atmosphere for first and business class passengers. Additionally, all passengers on the Emirates A380 can enjoy the ice (information, communication, entertainment) inflight entertainment system with over 2,000 channels, complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi, a wide selection of meals, and beverages during the flight.
