With a history of over a hundred years, Guo Family Chicken Rice is packed during mealtimes, and even during off-peak hours, finding a seat can be tough. But don’t worry about seating — tables turn over quickly since everyone comes for the food. Aside from the must-try chicken rice, don’t miss the sticky rice sausage and drunken chicken. Soup lovers can also try a bowl of their flavorful soup.

In spring, aside from cherry blossoms, jacarandas are also a floral spectacle not to be missed. Their signature feature is the clusters of soft pink blooms that resemble fluffy balls. When in full bloom, they look like pink bubbles — truly dreamy. Chiayi Special School is one of the best spots to admire these magenta jacarandas. The trees line up with their branches covered in pink blooms, resembling an endless stretch of pink clouds, attracting many visitors and photography enthusiasts.

“Taiwan 2 NT Oden” is located at the intersection of Zhongjie and Kaishan Road. The shop has a nostalgic decor and specializes in oden while also offering a variety of oden ingredients. Prices are divided into short bamboo skewers for 2 NT and longer skewers marked with a red dot for 5 NT — just pick what you want. Aside from oden, they also serve grilled oden. In the grill section, you’ll find items like small squid and dried fish, as well as large 30 NT skewers of oden grilled to order. The oden broth is also available free for self-service.

Known as one of the world’s 15 most beautiful flower-filled walking paths, the “Baihe Lin Chuchih Kapok Avenue” is a prime spot for admiring kapok blossoms. This 3-kilometer-long path attracts many visitors every flowering season. There’s also the “2019 Kapok Season” event where, aside from flower viewing, you can enjoy a variety of exciting activities.
