The American major coffee chain "Starbucks" opened a new branch, "Hirosaki Park Front Store," in April this year at the "Former 8th Division Commander's Official Residence" in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. This is Starbucks' second store located within a tangible cultural property, following its first in Kobe's Kitano Foreign Settlement. The exterior retains the well-preserved Western-style architecture of the Taisho period, exuding a strong retro atmosphere.

The "Hirosaki Park Front Store" was renovated from the original "Former 8th Division Commander's Official Residence." This historic building was initially constructed in 1917 and was designated as a national tangible cultural property of Japan in 2003. To this day, its exterior still preserves the Western-style architecture of the Taisho period, offering unique charm. In addition, the interior decoration is also very thoughtfully designed. The walls are primarily in a pearl white tone, while the ceiling, floor, and lighting fixtures use beech wood from Aomori Prefecture. Paired with soft lighting, it creates a nostalgic and comfortable space. Moreover, the "Hirosaki Park Front Store" faces the moat of Hirosaki Park, one of Japan’s famous cherry blossom viewing spots. In spring, visitors can enjoy the beautiful sight of blooming cherry blossoms while sipping coffee here, creating a sensory feast.
