With the launch of the Taiwan Railways Pingtung Service Base, the railway operator also plans a major adjustment on October 15 to boost capacity. About 200 train services will have schedule adjustments, mid-section trains will increase from 4 to 8 carriages, and commuter services in the south will be increased. Additionally, Taiwan Railways is considering introducing a “Taipei-Kaohsiung direct” Puyuma train, which is expected to save about one hour compared to the current Tze-Chiang Limited Express.

The Taiwan Railways Pingtung Service Base will be launched in October. In addition, 296 TEMU2000 EMUs and 4 tilting train sets are scheduled to be delivered and put into service before the end of the year. Along with the opening of the double-tracked, electrified elevated tracks in Pingtung’s Chaozhou Station, Taiwan Railways is making significant adjustments to improve transport capacity. The changes include shifting the starting stations of western line services from Kaohsiung to Chaozhou, increasing the number of stops in Pingtung County from the current 60 to over 107, and raising commuter services in the south from 40–50 trips to over 100. The total number of adjusted services reaches 200.
