● Hesheng Taiping Caféé story
Formerly Yilan’s old Tai Ping Hospital, owned by a family whose lineage includes Yilan’s first officially appointed mayor. This historic building, carefully maintained by later generations, retains both its layout and original construction materials. In 2013, a couple who run a homestay took over and reopened the doors of “Tai Ping Hospital.” Hesheng Taiping Café preserves the original hospital partitions, keeping intact the room layout of the old Japanese-style architecture, while also displaying various archives of Mr. Chen Jinbo. It regularly hosts photo exhibitions and lectures, making it a well-known and significant “hipster café” in Yilan.
