This blood-red pond phenomenon has sparked heated discussions online in Japan. Yukizou Tani, a lecturer in environmental studies at Osaka Sangyo University, also posted photos on his social media, explaining that the blood-red water is due to the recent hot weather in Nara, which led to an explosion of red algae in the pond. The vibrant color spread gradually from early this month, eventually transforming the pond into its current blood-like state. Additionally, the excessive growth of red algae has raised concerns about potential ecological impacts on other organisms, with many hoping relevant authorities will address the issue promptly.
