Forbes Travel Guide released its 61st annual global star ratings list, honoring the world’s best hotels and celebrating exceptional, warm service.

Among the 2019 inductees, 21 new five-star hotels, 49 four-star hotels, and 62 Recommended hotels were added. Other first-time awardees include six five-star restaurants, eight five-star spas, and 22 four-star spas.
The Peninsula Hotels became the world’s first hotel brand with an all-five-star portfolio, making history with Forbes Travel Guide. The Peninsula Manila earned its fifth star this year, bringing the Hong Kong-based brand’s total number of five-star properties to 10.

Forbes Travel Guide rates hotels in 76 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. New destinations for 2019 include: Anguilla, Bahrain, Belize, Doha, Istanbul, Oman, Perth, Punta del Este (Uruguay), the Swiss Alps, Tel Aviv, and Vietnamese cities including Da Nang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hoi An.
The following countries received their first five-star hotels: Malaysia (Genting Highlands Resort), Portugal (Four Seasons Hotel Lisbon), South Korea (Shilla Seoul), Turkey (Four Seasons Istanbul), and Vietnam (Four Seasons Resort Hoi An).

London has overtaken Macau as the city with the most five-star hotels, thanks to the addition of four new properties (Bulgari Hotel London, The Langham London, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London, and Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard). London now has 13 top-tier five-star hotels, while Macau has 12.

The United States gained two new five-star hotels (Four Seasons Resort Lanai and Salamander Resort & Spa in Washington, D.C.). The following countries each added one new five-star hotel: Canada (Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver), China (Bulgari Hotel Beijing), France (Rosewood Paris), Indonesia (Bulgari Resort Bali), Mexico (Rosewood San Miguel de Allende), and the UAE (Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi).
The awardees were recognized on February 26 and 27 at the Forbes Travel Guide’s top-tier summit, Verified, The Forbes Travel Guide Luxury Summit, held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
