The swaying bunches of pampas flowers, dancing in the wind, exude the unique poetic elegance of autumn. But when in Korea, where are the must-visit spots for miscanthus viewing?

● Mount Myeongseong, Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province

Mount Myeongseong lies at the border of Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, and Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, and is one of Korea’s most iconic miscanthus viewing spots. At the mountain’s mid-slope, Myeongseongho Lake surrounds the area, allowing visitors to enjoy both hiking and the beautiful lake scenery.

At Cheongwansan Mountain, besides overlooking the archipelagic seas of South Korea’s southern coast, you can also enjoy views of miscanthus flowers along the way. Every autumn, the entire mountaintop is covered in pampas grass, and its towering peaks are another highlight.

Mount Osu is located in Hongseong County, and its coastal location offers a sense of openness and height distinct from inland mountains. Centered around the mountaintop, the surrounding 2 km area is covered in fields of miscanthus. After climbing to the highest point, you can also take in the endless blue ocean — a breathtaking view that refreshes the soul.

● Sinbul Plain at Seonbulsan Mountain, Ulju, Ulsan

The Sinbul Plain at Seonbulsan Mountain in Ulju is famous for its vast fields of purple pampas grass — so expansive that it can take over an hour to walk across. Here, you can wander freely through the dreamy sea of silvery pampas grass across vast, pure grasslands.

● Mindung, Seongsan, Gangwon ProvinceMountain

The miscanthus flowers blanketing Mount Mindung are beloved by visitors. The entire round-shaped mountain resembles an endlessly stretching field, with around 200,000 pyeong (approximately 660,000 square meters) of miscanthus flowers creating a spectacular surrounding scene.
