The Atlantic Coastal Highway, open since 1989, is made up of eight bridges connecting the Norwegian mainland with the island of Averoy. It is one of Norway’s national tourist routes and is also known as the “drunken bridge.” This nickname comes from a curved bridge located at a turn in the road, where designers used optical illusion techniques to give drivers the thrilling sensation that there’s no road ahead.
