TOMS brand founder Blake Mycoskie suffered from severe myopia as a child, and didn’t see the world clearly until he underwent laser surgery at the age of 22. Therefore, in order to share his personal life-changing experience with more people, in 2011 he launched TOMS eyewear and initiated a program where for every pair of glasses purchased, TOMS helps provide glasses or vision surgery such as cataract treatment to someone in need on the other side of the world. To date, the brand has partnered with over 14 vision assistance organizations in 13 countries, helping people in those regions regain their sight. In total, they have helped more than 275,000 people.

October 8th is the annual World Sight Day, a global healthcare initiative led by the World Health Organization and supported by numerous international volunteer organizations to promote the importance of preventing blindness and improving vision. As the world’s first cause-driven brand, TOMS fully supports this effort. This year, TOMS is organizing related activities in major cities around the globe under the theme “Focus on Sight.” Everyone is welcome to take photos on this day to illustrate the difference between clear and blurred vision, upload them to Instagram or Facebook, and tag them with #givesight #tomstaiwan to raise awareness about the importance of eye care.
