Taipei Cityscape Public Art Festival transforms abandoned buses into creative installations!

The “Taipei, Watch!: 2015 Taipei Cityscape Public Art Festival” launched on October 7th. Rather than waiting passively for visitors as in the past, this year’s edition takes “WHEN CITY GOES TO THE PEOPLE” as its theme. It transforms into art buses that actively venture into the city, inviting everyone to explore Taipei through art!

The “Taipei, Watch!: 2015 Taipei Cityscape Public Art Festival” uses Huashan Prairie Art Station as its main exhibition hub. Three art teams were invited to creatively transform buses, resulting in three unique landscape artworks: “Street Concert Hall – Boom ba la boom Bus,” “Public Kitchen,” and “Citizens’ Playground.”
 
●“Street Concert Hall – Boom ba la boom Bus”
Designed by graffiti artist CYH Jayson (a.k.a. Big Intestine King), who has gained attention in international graffiti exhibitions in recent years, this installation combines elements of graffiti art and hip-hop music. Using street art techniques, an abandoned bus was transformed into a Boombox portable speaker, illustrating the potential fusion of Taipei’s street trend subculture, urban landscapes, and daily life.

●“Urban Public Kitchen – Urban Garden Bus”

Designed by Ren Xinying, winner of the Taipei Urban Design Award, this installation fuses the concepts of urban farming and experimental kitchens. Made from recycled materials, it presents the idea of “build your own kitchen” and promotes the new concept of edible landscapes with “grow your own food.”
