As part of the launch of the double-track, elevated, electrified railway between Pingtung and Chaozhou and the inauguration of the Chaozhou Depot, train schedules have been adjusted. Starting from midnight on October 15,Guilai, Linluo, Xishi, Zhutian, and Chaozhoufive stations will begin offering IC card-based fare payment services. Taiwan Railways stated that since the introduction of IC card services in central Taiwan and Yilan on June 30, the service area has now expanded from Pingtung to Chaozhou. In total, 169 stations along the line will now support IC card payments, benefiting an estimated 300,000 passengers daily.

Additionally, Taiwan Railways noted that it will continue to install multi-card IC ticketing equipment across the island-wide rail network. The goal is to achieve the policy objective of island-wide multi-card compatibility by mid-2016, allowing passengers to use IC cards on trains across Taiwan and facilitating transfers to other public transport modes. This will realize the vision of seamless island-wide travel with just one card.
