Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart announced on the 11th that it will acquire 100% of the shares of “TOMAMU Hoshino Resort” for 18.3 billion yen.

The Tomamu Hoshino Resort in Kamikawa Village, Hokkaido, covers a total area of 40 hectares, including four main buildings and 757 guest rooms. It is renowned for its ski slopes, Cloud Sea Café, and the Water Church designed by architect Tadao Ando. Its dreamlike scenery often attracts international tourists and makes it a well-known resort in the area. Among them, the Water Church gained fame among Taiwanese couples as a dream wedding venue after featuring in the music video for Fish Leong’s song “Admire.”

Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart’s major shareholder, Fosun International, has in recent years invested in international brands such as Club Med and Cirque du Soleil. This acquisition of the Hokkaido TOMAMU Hoshino Resort is seen as an effort to strengthen the overseas ski market for Chinese tourists.
