Can you see the beauty of cherry blossoms blooming in Tokyo during winter? To let everyone experience a different winter atmosphere, the Tokyo government has set up a Winter Cherry Blossoms Light-Up event along the Meguro River from now until Christmas on December 25, using eco-friendly LED lights to simulate the dreamy colors of cherry blossoms, allowing pedestrians and tourists passing by the river at night to enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms without waiting for spring.

The row of cherry blossom trees along the Meguro River in spring creates a moving scene, attracting many tourists to come and admire the blossoms and take photos. In winter, the Meguro River, centered around the Shinagawa Ward’s Gotanda Waterfront Plaza, from Ohsaki to Gotanda, sees its cherry blossom-lined paths lit up with as many as 210,000 pink, peach, and gold-colored lights, showcasing the beauty of “winter cherry blossoms” through these neon lights. The Winter Cherry Blossoms Light-Up is not only beautiful but also highly eco-conscious, with all electricity generated from recycled used cooking oil collected from nearby homes and restaurants, causing absolutely no air pollution.
