Tainan is brimming with a romantic ambiance as its Christmas Light Festival kicks off

Every Christmas, Tainan City hosts a Christmas Light Festival, where dazzling and romantic lights bring warmth, care, and festive blessings to both residents and visitors.

This year, the Tainan City Government has partnered with National Taiwan Normal University, Kunshan University of Science and Technology, and Tainan University of Technology to create four main light zones. The festival runs from December 1 to January 31, 2016, with lighting ceremonies held on December 6 and 11 at the Museum of Taiwanese Literature and Xinying Cultural Center Plaza respectively, inviting everyone to spend a romantic Christmas in Tainan.

The Museum of Taiwanese Literature was formerly the Tainan Prefectural Hall during the Japanese colonial period, second in importance only to the Governor-General's Office at the time. Located near the Tainan Confucius Temple commercial district and the wedding dress district, the designer used pure white, symbolizing the happiness of a wedding dress, to create a one-of-a-kind white Christmas tree of happiness. It aims to fill both wandering tourists and young students with a sense of joy.
● Xinying Cultural Center Plaza | Red Rhapsody -The Heart and Passion of Tainan (Kunshan University of Science and Technology College of Creative Media)
Red is the color most associated with passion. Using the concept of a heartbeat and the fervor of Tainan locals, this interactive installation lets people communicate with the Christmas tree through sound, causing its lights to change colors and flicker, much like how this passionate city responds with enthusiasm.

Tainan Railway Station is the city’s busiest train station and a major transportation hub. It features white doves carrying large gift boxes combined with classic traditional window grilles, offering abundant blessings as gifts. It aims to wish both visiting tourists and local passersby peace and joy in the new year.
● Anping Recreation Wharf | Blue Sea Love Song -Anping Reverie (Tainan University of Technology Department of Visual Communication Design)

The blue heart symbolizes the attachment to the sea shared by fishermen, travelers, and lovers coming to Anping, while the yellow light balls atop the tree resemble a warm lighthouse that brightens hearts—just like the “Anping Rhapsody.” In this harbor dotted with fishing lights, everyone is composing their own blue love song.
