Take the MRT to enjoy the flowers — Taipei’s riverside flower seas and night views are incredibly romantic

As early winter arrives, flowers at Chengmei Riverside Park are beginning to bloom in vibrant competition. The Taipei City Water Department has decorated Xikou Wharf with over 15,000 seasonal flowering plants. Blossoming crabapple, dianthus, lantana, and angel’s trumpet are truly eye-catching. The flower viewing period lasts until late December. After strolling along the riverside to admire the blossoms, a walk at Rainbow Riverside Park or a visit to the Raohe Night Market are both great options.

The flower sea is located in the left and right banks of Chengmei Riverside Park, featuring a total of over 15,000 seasonal flowering plants arranged in a dreamy rainbow line pattern paired with heart motifs. Crabapple flowers present a romantic atmosphere in striking reds and pinks, accompanied by purple dianthus, yellow lantana, and peach-pink angel’s trumpet — a colorful tapestry of blooms forming a beautiful scene. Nearby, the Rainbow Riverside Park, themed around love, offers a unique ambiance for an evening stroll. At the FOREVER-shaped lover’s stone bench, you can take in the illuminated night views across the riverbanks, an absolutely gorgeous experience. On the “LOVE” installation art piece, you can even hang a love lock to make a wish for love.

In addition to taking the Songshan MRT line, you can also reach Xikou Wharf by bike. On weekends, you can rent a bicycle at the Rainbow Rental Station, and it takes about five minutes by bike to get there from the upper reaches of the Keelung River. Nearby attractions include Raohe Night Market and Wufenpu, which you can easily include in your trip. Spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon wandering the riverside — whether by bike, on foot, jogging, or walking your dog, you can fully enjoy the pleasant time in the riverside park.
