Dinner after work for office workers: 3 super-popular bento shops in Yonghe

Recently, the food search website OpenRice specially compiled a list of 8 popular lunch restaurants around Taipei’s eight major business districts—spots beloved by local office workers that always see long queues during lunch hours. Besides lunch, many office workers, for the sake of convenience, often opt to buy bento boxes to take home for dinner. In the Zhonghe-Yonghe area, there are three particularly well-loved bento shops. Every day once the workday ends, the storefronts are packed with people lining up, yet many are still willing to wait patiently.

Guangdong Zhenglongcheng Roast Duck
Guangdong Zhenglongcheng Roast Duck is quite well-known in the Yonghe area, with roast duck being its signature dish. However, in addition to the usual three treasures rice, char siu rice, and other standard roast meat shop offerings, the shop also serves risotto, fried rice, and noodles. Takeaway is much more common here than dining in, and aside from bento boxes, many also take roast duck home to enjoy.

Hong Kong Chen Ji Roast Meat Fast Food
There are many roast meat shops named Chen Ji, but this one is located near Lehua Night Market. It’s not very big, but if you go during meal times, you’ll definitely find a long queue—especially during the evening rush hour, when the line stretches from the entrance all the way into the alley next door. Prices range from NT$80 to NT$95.

Jinxian Shrimp Rolls (Yonghe Branch)
Although Jinxian Shrimp Rolls can be found in many places, the branch on Baoping Road is exceptionally popular. While its queues aren’t as exaggerated as those at Guangdong Zhenglongcheng Roast Duck, there’s almost always someone waiting during dinner hours. Popular bento choices include pork rib rice, chicken leg rice, and shrimp roll rice. The chicken leg rice here is braised rather than deep-fried, setting it apart from others. Bento prices range from NT$75 to NT$85.
