During autumn and winter, the abundant moisture in high-altitude areas combined with the seasonal winds makes it particularly easy to witness sea of clouds phenomena. The Alishan Sea of Clouds in Chiayi is one of the region’s five major wonders and a must-see scenic beauty in Taiwan. From November onwards is the best time to visit Alishan to admire the sea of clouds. The Alishan National Forest Recreation Area also shared on its official Facebook page the best spots to enjoy the sunset sea of clouds, including the “Ogasawara Mountain Viewing Platform,” “Ciyun Temple Viewing Platform,” “the second floor of Alishan Station,” “the viewing platform outside the main gate ticket booth,” as well as locations nearby within the park such as “89.5km along Provincial Highway 18 toward Tatachia” and “20,000 Ping, 3km in from the 86km mark heading toward Chiayi” — all great viewpoints.
