The National Science and Technology Museum has introduced what is claimed to be Asia’s tallest spiral slide, standing 18 meters high (about five stories) with a total length of 46 meters. It takes just 12 seconds to slide from top to bottom, offering visitors an opportunity to experience and learn about universal gravitation, potential energy, kinetic energy, and other science popularization knowledge. The slide is available for experience from now until October 12, 2016.

The Museum of Science and Technology is the largest applied science museum in the country and also a hub for science education in southern Taiwan. Having been open for 18 years, it upholds the philosophy of “making technology part of daily life and daily life part of technology.” Through its rich collections, diverse exhibits, engaging activities, and practical cultural and creative products, the museum delivers new insights on “science popularization,” applying scientific and technological concepts to everyday life. “Science popularization” must rely on “experiential education” to infuse fun into the learning process. Promoting the idea of “learning science through experience, experiencing science through learning,” the museum aims to enhance public scientific literacy. As such, its 11 experiential facilities have always been among the most popular highlights within the museum.

This time, the Museum of Science and Technology has collaborated with Nan-Yi Creative Engineering Co., Ltd. to import the “Ultimate Thrill, Experience Science – Three-Dimensional Spiral Slide” from Germany. The installation is accompanied by science education demonstration activities and displays related to the scientific principles behind the facility and general science knowledge. While visitors enjoy the ultimate thrill, they can also cultivate a positive scientific spirit and attitude, as well as enrich their scientific life and application skills.
