Many people choose window seats on planes to enjoy the stunning views of clouds outside the cabin. But if you find the scenery visible through the small window somewhat limited and not thrilling enough, then you might be excited about the upcoming 360-degree in-flight viewing deck that allows you to take in the surrounding landscape from all angles.

Given that in-flight entertainment has remained largely unchanged for years, an aerospace engineering company called Windspeed Technologies has designed a 360-degree all-around viewing platform named SkyDeck, offering passengers a more diverse and enjoyable flying experience. This viewing platform will be located near the tail section of the aircraft, featuring a semi-circular dome made of fighter-jet-grade glass material. Passengers can access SkyDeck via an internal staircase inside the cabin, and sit in rotating seats within the platform to enjoy the outside views from different angles. In addition, the platform will be equipped with a GPS system to provide real-time information on the aircraft’s location.

Currently, this new flying experience is targeted at premium seats on private jets and as a paid option on commercial flights. Windspeed states that SkyDeck has largely addressed common concerns such as pressure differentials, temperature variations, UV exposure, and noise, ensuring a safe environment. Several airline companies have already expressed interest, and it is believed that in the near future, many will have the chance to experience the wondrous feeling of flying above the clouds.
