As 2016 arrives, three renowned Outlet brands have successively opened in Taiwan, with hundreds of international luxury brands and many popular Japanese restaurants setting up shop, sparking a shopping craze. The three malls each have their own distinctive features — including the first-ever American-style open-air Outlet mall in Taiwan, as well as what will be Asia’s second-largest Ferris wheel, which is highly anticipated.

Huatai Boutique City officially opened on December 18. The mall is located in Qingpu, Zhongli District, Taoyuan City, about a 45-minute drive from downtown Taipei, adjacent to the Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station and the Airport MRT, offering very convenient transportation. It is Taiwan’s first international-grade open-air leisure shopping village combined with garden landscaping as a premium Outlet.

Huatai Boutique City spans four phases, with its first phase covering a 6,000-ping exhibition space and housing 102 brands. These include Armani, Hugo Boss, Jimmy Choo, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tod’s, Salvatore Ferragamo… among others, with an average discount of 35% off. In addition, 24 brands are making their first appearance in a Taiwanese Outlet. According to plans, the second phase of Huatai Boutique City is expected to open in autumn 2016, with the third and fourth phases opening in 2018 and 2019 respectively. By then, a total of 260 luxury brands will be stationed here, along with facilities such as a cinema, cafes, and fine dining restaurants.

● Mitsui OUTLET PARK Linkou
The well-known Japanese Outlet brand “Mitsui Outlet” is scheduled to officially open in Linkou on January 27, 2016. Located near the Taoyuan Airport MRT, the mall covers an area of approximately 20,000 pings and is designed with the concept of a foreign resort, aiming to offer consumers a taste of an exotic vacation. It is expected to host 220 brands, including multiple international luxury labels (such as Versace, ARMANI OUTLET, a. testoni, MaxMara, Michael Kors, ETRO… etc.); popular Japanese fashion brands (such as BEANS, earth, snide, UNITED ARROWS, URBAN RESEARCH… etc.); as well as sports brands (such as NIKE factory store, adidas, puma, NEW BALANCE, under armour, The North Face… etc.). Additionally, there will be 13 restaurant brands, several of which will be opening their first stores in Taiwan.
