Kyushu Pancake No. 2 Store: Simple Aesthetic & Taiwan-Limited Uji Matcha Menu

Since its introduction to Taiwan on January 27, 2015, Kyushu Pancake opened its first flagship store on Fu Jin Street, quickly gaining popularity and strong consumer support. On December 27, its second branch — the Songyan Store — grandly opened next to the Taipei Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, an area rich in cultural and creative atmosphere. It also launched a brand-new “Taiwan-Limited” Kyoto Uji Matcha menu. In addition, peripheral items featuring the distinctive brand style of Kyushu Pancake were exclusively released at the Songyan Store, injecting new energy and vitality into Kyushu Pancake in Taiwan.

Located in a top-tier new afternoon tea district, the opening day of Kyushu Pancake Songyan Store invited multiple partners from both Taiwan and Japan, including Kyushu Pancake founder and President Murakami Koji, Japanese partners Izumikawa Dai and Suzuki Takahiro, Taiwan Store General Manager Tsai Jingming, Taiwan partners Jiang Shouren and Chen Jianzhi, who jointly participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of Kyushu Pancake Songyan Store. The opening also specially invited two Japanese chefs — Yamashita Hirokazu and KuwauQ Noritaka — to bring the meticulous attitude and craftsmanship toward work characteristic of Japanese culinary businesses.

Kyushu Pancake Songyan Store inherits the warm Japanese-style ambiance of the first store, featuring a spacious and comfortable elongated space. The ceiling is equipped with frosted glass lattice skylights, and under the warm lighting, it feels as if natural sunlight is pouring in from above. The store also extensively uses modern metallic square and hanging lamps to create a more contemporary interplay of light and shadow. The interior space is built with natural materials such as solid wood and stone bricks, and through the interplay of colors and diverse materials, it creates a sense of open space, offering guests a warm and cozy dining atmosphere.

All “Kyushu Pancake Mix” is made from carefully selected ingredients sourced from Kyushu, Japan. In addition to the original seven-grain plain pancake mix, the store also offers “Kyushu Classic Milk Pancake Mix” made with rare Kyushu buttermilk powder, “Kyushu Fresh Vegetable Pancake Mix” produced from five types of dried vegetables, and “Kyushu Satsuma Sweet Potato Pancake Mix” that includes dried sweet potato powder — four flavors in total to enhance texture and taste richness. We emphasize the absence of emulsifiers, artificial flavorings, processed starches, and aluminum-based leavening agents. The use of seven grains gives the pancakes a soft, chewy, and springy texture.

Kyushu Pancake Songyan Store has launched several new products, including “Taiwan-Limited” carefully selected Kyoto Uji Matcha series menu items and a thoughtfully crafted “Nut, Sesame & Soy Milk Drink” balanced with walnuts, sesame, and soybeans. The Taiwan-limited “Kyushu Matcha Tiramisu Pancake” layers seven-grain plain pancakes spread with Uji matcha filling, topped with specially made velvety tiramisu, and finished with a dusting of snow-like, rich matcha powder. Paired with Kyushu Pancake’s refined matcha syrup, it presents a vivid visual and flavorful layered experience. Additionally, the “Kyushu Matcha Mont Blanc” offers a visual concept inspired by Mont Blanc, featuring layered matcha and chestnut whipped cream on a plain pancake tower, delivering a blissful taste experience from tongue to palate.
