The sand sculpture exhibition keeps up with current events as the newly inaugurated President Tsai Ing-wen makes an appearance

Shortly after the results of the 2016 presidential election were announced, the sand sculpture exhibition at Kaohsiung’s Pier-2 Art Center was quickly updated to reflect current events with a new sand sculpture portrait of Tsai Ing-wen. The lifelike depiction attracted visitors eager to take photos with it.

“Golden Sand Legends & Wonders: Journey Through the Sand World” is Taiwan’s first large-scale interactive indoor sand sculpture exhibition. It specially invites top international sand sculpture artists to recreate the original appearances of world-famous landmarks and heritage sites across the five continents with exquisite craftsmanship. Each stunning sand sculpture is made using specially imported premium sand from abroad—fine in texture, pleasant to touch, and highly malleable. With natural sand as the base material, and through the artists’ skillful hands, these creations transport visitors to iconic wonders around the globe while allowing them to appreciate classic cultures from ancient to modern times, both Eastern and Western. Additionally, the exhibition area features Taiwan’s largest indoor play sandpit, where teachers, students, and families can experience sand sculpture creation firsthand, spark creativity, and enjoy quality interactive family time.
