To welcome the arrival of the 2016 Chinese New Year, the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau has specially curated a “Joyful Spring Tour of Kaohsiung – The Grand Four Blessings Celebrating the New Year” 2-day itinerary. It features four major themes: mountains and wilderness, ocean and coastline, art and culture, and lantern festivals, connecting popular events and emerging attractions.

The winter vacation holiday season is filled with the festive atmosphere of visiting friends and family for the New Year. The Tourism Bureau has integrated the “Grand Four Blessings Celebrating the New Year” 2-day tour package, which travelers can freely mix and match. For those who enjoy...“Mountain and Wilderness Charm,”there’s the opportunity to visit Maolin to witness the ecological wonder of purple crow butterflies in flight, admire the cosmos fields in Meinong and the sunflower seas in Shanlin, try making paper umbrellas, and taste Hakka pickled vegetables; or choose the “Ocean and Coastline”experience, where you can explore exhibitions in the Pier-2 Art Center, stroll through the old streets of Hamasen and Sizihwan, take a ferry to Cijin, visit the viral Rainbow Church, and enjoy the romantic scenery of the setting sun.

Additionally, the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival combines events from Qishan, Gangshan, and the Fo Guang Shan Peace Lantern Ceremony, each offering unique features. During the Spring Festival period, visitors can also admire creative lanterns and dazzling fireworks. Moreover, Kaohsiung boasts many new attractions, including the Golden Pineapple Castle by Wei Qu Pie Factory, which opened last year and is perfect for family DIY pineapple cake making; Jinshi Lake has added spacious green areas, with sand pits and play facilities to create a family-friendly playground; MLD Taipei Aluminum has been transformed from an old industrial plant into a large creative mall; and there’s also the bamboo oyster land art “Gathering” in Qianzheng 31st Phase Park, symbolizing hope and rebirth, showcasing diverse features.

In addition, in conjunction with the winter vacation, the “Kaohsiung-Pingtung-Penghu Travel Card” is also offering special promotions. From now until February 29th, the “Cijin Breezy 2-Day Tour” package is available for NT$338 (original price NT$570), which includes unlimited rides on the MRT and local city buses for two days, as well as round-trip ferry rides to Cijin. On February 1st, the “West District Light Trip 1-Day Tour” is offered at NT$299 (original price NT$455), including a one-day pass for the West District Express bus, round-trip electric boat fares on Lotus Pond, and a discount on a picnic box.
