Red-faced ducks and blue killer whales take the stage – Cute highlights debut at the Hualien Pacific Lantern Festival

The annual Hualien Pacific Lantern Festival will once again light up the festive season just before Lunar New Year. From January 30 to February 29, in addition to tens of thousands of bright red lanterns illuminating major roads across 13 townships in Hualien, main lantern display areas will also be set up in the sixth redevelopment zone of Hualien City and at Liyu Lake, featuring Taiwan’s first-ever water-light technology show, a blue killer whale light show, and a 3D projection water dance performance starring the red-faced duck. These cutting-edge displays create a dynamic dual-main-lantern festival on both land and water. Shows are held both day and night, allowing visitors and returning locals to welcome the new year with joy and cheer!

The Pacific Lantern Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year and is always bustling with excitement. During this edition, in addition to decorative lights lining the roads of 13 townships in Hualien, you can also see large lanterns designed around the theme of monkeys, adding to the festive atmosphere. The most anticipated main lantern areas are located in the sixth redevelopment zone and at Liyu Lake, where dazzling water dance performances by the red-faced duck are showcased both day and night, highlighting the adorable family of red-faced ducks and presenting a lively, dynamic beauty.

The 2016 water dance is paired with brand-new high-luminance energy-saving LED projectors, delivering an unprecedentedly brilliant light effect. Additionally, three high-cost mixed-gas water curtains, each totaling 60 meters in width, are specially introduced. These are arranged in a staggered, three-dimensional setup and combined with full-color lasers and outdoor pattern lights. Projected onto the water curtains from behind, the displays create a stunning 3D audiovisual water dance experience under the power of thrilling music.
