The Daxue Mountain, Baxian Mountain, Hehuan Mountain, and Wuling Forest Recreation Areas are popular spring walk destinations in central Taiwan. During the Lunar New Year holiday, besides shopping or visiting temples, it’s the perfect time to enjoy forest bathing and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature to relax your body and mind, recharging for the new year. To welcome the Lunar New Year holiday, the Daxue Mountain, Baxian Mountain, and Hehuan Mountain Forest Recreation Areas will be closed on Lunar New Year’s Eve (February 7) for maintenance and will resume normal operations from the first day of the Lunar New Year (February 8), making them ideal destinations for nature lovers to go hiking.

● Daxue Mountain Forest Recreation Area
Early spring at Daxue Mountain Forest Recreation Area is full of life — patches of crimson cherry blossoms, pale green tender leaves, and the crisp chirping of birds from the woods all herald the arrival of spring. Moreover, it’s currently the season of sea of clouds at Daxue Mountain, where the sea of clouds and sunset glow are must-see sights. During the Lunar New Year period, Daxue Mountain implements crowd control, with a daily visitor limit of 2,200 people.

● Baxian Mountain Forest Recreation Area
Baxian Mountain Forest Recreation Area is in full bloom with spring vibes, birdsongs, and floral fragrances. Along the Sound of Heaven Trail, you can see the plumbeous water redstart hopping and swaying along with the sound of the stream, while the dense bamboo forest trail welcomes you with the cheerful songs of birds. Come and experience a unique new forest adventure. During the Lunar New Year period, Baxian Mountain enforces crowd control with a daily visitor limit of 1,500 people. From February 9–12 (the second to fourth days of the Lunar New Year), a free shuttle bus service will be available, picking up visitors from the toll station parking lot and taking them to the Visitor Center. Visitors interested in coming are encouraged to take advantage of this service.
