The spring scenery of Alishan is at its most beautiful, with plum blossoms and cherry blossoms in full bloom

With the end of the annual leave period, the cherry blossoms in Alishan are just beginning to flourish. Various stunning sights of blooming cherry blossoms can already be seen in many locations within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area and along Provincial Highway 18 (Alishan Highway), attracting many tourists to enjoy the floral displays. Additionally, the once wildly popular Plum Garden in Kuaizilin, Ruili, which gained fame last year, has seen slightly less impressive blooms this year due to January rainfall. However, its snow-white, dreamlike beauty still takes visitors’ breath away.

According to the cherry blossom front updates from the “Wandering in the Clouds – Alishan” fan page, the first wave of early-blooming cherry blossoms (Prunus campanulata) in the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is expected to gradually come into full bloom starting in late February. Ryukyu early-blooming cherry blossoms: about 1 to 2 flowers open in front of the Alishan Work Station, and about 3 to 5 at the Erwanping Youth Activity Center; the double-flowered mountain cherry blossoms at Erwanping Youth Activity Center are also in full bloom. Along Provincial Highway 18 (Alishan Highway), early-blooming cherry blossoms are in bloom along the road, with key cherry blossom viewing sections located between kilometers 79.5 and 82 on Highway 18. In addition, the Formosan cherry blossoms on the Hutu Trail in Alishan are in stunning bloom and will continue to flourish through the week of the 15th. The Showa cherry and Fuji cherry blossoms in Xideng and Dingshizhao are just beginning to bloom in late February.
