Spring has arrived at Aowanda in all its glory, with thousands of Fuji cherry, double-petal cherry, and Wushe cherry trees blossoming one after another. Currently, the mountain cherry blossoms in the cherry blossom area are almost in full bloom, and soon the double-petal cherries will follow. The blossom-viewing season is expected to last until late February to early March. Aside from enjoying the cherry blossoms, visitors to Aowanda can also explore two unique trail areas — the Waterfall Trail and the Maple Forest Trail — which have now opened, offering multiple recreational options. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Aowanda’s mountains and forests while enjoying the dual refreshment of phytoncides and negative ions.

It takes just 30 minutes to walk from the Aowanda Recreation Area Visitor Center to the waterfall area via the single route, passing the Regulation Pool to arrive with ease. Here you’ll find spectacular waterfalls, including a twin cascade. In particular, the flying waterfall releases up to 45,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter — the second highest in Taiwan. The 1,045-meter-long Waterfall Trail offers a forest setting rich in green plants and essential streams that nurture life, supplying oxygen and purifying the air, allowing you to enjoy an environment enveloped in phytoncides.

Another featured trail is the “Maple Forest Trail,” which stretches 1,166 meters in length. Recently renovated, it has reopened to visitors as a spacious path leading to the Forest Park and bird-watching platform. Along the WanDa River, towering fragrant maples stand proudly. In spring and summer, their leaves are lush and emerald green; in autumn and winter, they gradually turn golden under the sun before deepening into orange-red hues. This trail is a poetic portrayal of romantic beauty.
