Enjoy solitude in peace: A cozy, minimalist café tucked away in a residential building

Chair Café is a café that shares space with a design studio. The air isn't just filled with the aroma of coffee but also countless design books and quirky design items.

The Fabrica chair has a clean, white exterior with a fresh, somewhat Japanese-inspired design. The café is located in the alleys near Xinyi Anhe Station, surrounded by residential areas, so the environment is very quiet and pleasant.

Upon entering Chair Café, the warm, dim lighting immediately brightens your view. The café space is wider than I expected, mainly furnished in solid wood tones, giving off an overall Japanese, minimalist vibe that feels very comfortable.

The counter is always wafting with the rich aroma of coffee. That day, I sat by the window near the counter, and the air was constantly filled with the faint scent of coffee—it was heavenly.

Perhaps the café’s biggest highlight is the variety of chairs—different styles, sizes, and shapes. The owner of Chair Café is a designer himself, and with his creative touch, he has collected chairs of all kinds to display in the shop. So, the first thing you should do when you visit Chair Café is pick your favorite chair and enjoy a cozy afternoon.

The display shelves are lined with miniature chairs of all sorts, mirroring the true essence of Chair Café—quite amusing.

Perhaps because the owner is a designer, there are also plenty of design books on the shelves.

After being seated, the staff thoughtfully provided us with a basket to place our belongings.

Basil Chicken Breast Sandwich – NT$220

I love the crispness of French bread, and the refreshing basil pesto spread is delicious. It's a bit of a pity that the chicken was a little dry and not as tender as I’d hoped, but the side salad and fried potatoes were great. The portion size is decent overall.

Flat White – NT$130

The balanced milk flavor allows the coffee beans to shine through. The milk foam on top is smooth, making for a lovely, gentle taste. It’s worth mentioning that Chair Café offers many small-sized, low-milk coffees. Compared to regular lattes or cappuccinos, I find these smoother and more suitable for those who don’t like heavy or overly creamy drinks.

Honey Lemon Sparkling Drink – NT$120

I really like the atmosphere at Chair Café, though it can get a bit noisy when it’s crowded. If you want a quiet spot for coffee and an afternoon break, weekdays are recommended. Also, since the café has no time limit and provides sockets and Wi-Fi, it’s great for working or dining alone.
