The most beautiful library in Taiwan is probably the one at Taitung University. Not only does it feature a unique design that resembles a massive ancient civilization relic, but it also looks even more stunning against the backdrop of a beautiful blue sky and green lawns, making it one of the must-see landmarks when visiting Taitung.

The Taitung University Library and Information Center is a five-story above-ground and one-story underground building. Officially unveiled and put into use at the end of 2014, the library’s design, nestled against the mountains and beside the lake, is truly unique. Thanks to the architect’s carefully crafted landscape-inspired design, it ingeniously complements Taitung University’s exceptional geographical setting, surrounded by mountains and the sea.

The northern part of the library is a five-story, mountain-shaped structure — Taitung University’s pyramid for storing educational knowledge. The southern information center is a two-story building that, when viewed from above, resembles flowing water meandering along the shores of Mirror Heart Lake. And if you head up to the third floor of the library, you can even enjoy sweeping views of the vast Pacific Ocean.
