It’s the perfect time to travel in Asia！Online hotel provider Hotels.com has released its latest Hotel Price Index report, which shows that the global average nightly hotel rate in 2015 rose slightly by 1% compared to 2014, while Asia saw the largest decline, such as Taiwan where the average nightly room rate dropped 11% from 2014, also boosting tourism activity across Asia.

Among them, aside from Japan — the most popular travel destination among Taiwanese — where prices mostly trended upwards, many other Asian destinations such as Bangkok, Hong Kong & Macau, Seoul, Singapore, and Chiang Mai all saw declines of around 10%. Bangkok became the third most popular overseas travel destination this year; Chiang Mai, with an affordable average price of NT$1,890, emerged as a budget-friendly choice.

According to statistics, Taiwan has welcomed over 10 million tourists, with Taipei ranking among the top five overseas travel destinations for countries including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Korea, also seeing a 12% decline. In recent years, Hong Kong tourists have had the highest revisit rate, and besides Taipei maintaining its top spot, Taichung also entered the top ten favorite overseas destinations for Hong Kong travelers this year.
