The new Taroko Hello Kitty painted train made its inaugural run on March 21, departing from Shulin Station and successfully arriving in Taitung. Aside from the train's exterior attracting fans' attention, its interior and surrounding facilities—including anything featuring the Hello Kitty conductor design—became a major focus for enthusiasts. After the inaugural run, Taiwan Railways discovered that some seat scarves in the carriages were missing. Originally, the seats were uniformly decorated with the scarves, but afterward, many seats were left without their Hello Kitty scarves, losing much of their charm.

The train has a total of 376 seats, and as many as 328 seat scarves were lost, resulting in a loss of over ten thousand Taiwan dollars. Taiwan Railways urged passengers not to take any onboard supplies off the train simply due to personal preference or for souvenirs. Many netizens expressed disbelief upon hearing the news, believing that the public's sense of civic duty needs further improvement.
