The National Public Information Library was listed among the IFLA's "1001 Best Libraries to Visit Before You Die" in 2014. Its streamlined architectural design, symbolizing the image of a river, represents the endless flow of knowledge. Recently, fields of cosmos and sunflowers have been planted around the library, creating a vibrant spring atmosphere and making it a new floral highlight in downtown Taichung.

The main building of the National Public Information Library has five floors above ground and two underground, covering an area of 2.164 hectares with a total floor space of approximately 41,797 square meters. It is broadly divided into reader service areas, conference and learning zones, public service sections, and administrative support areas.

The interior spaces adopt an outside-in design concept, integrating outdoor window views from different floors into the color schemes and furnishings, resulting in bright, spacious, and modern interiors. The building attracted attention upon its opening in 2012 and remains a great destination for reading, leisure, and learning on weekends and holidays.

Recently, an idle plot of land near the National Public Information Library along Section 3 of Fuxing Road has undergone a remarkable transformation. The over two-hectare site has been turned into a vast expanse of blooming flowers, becoming a new urban highlight for flower viewing. The colorful sea of sunflowers and cosmos attracts passersby to stop and take photos.

This land, managed by the Taichung City Construction Bureau, has been beautified over the past three months. Now, clusters of flowers have begun to bloom across the more than two-hectare area, turning it into a magnificent flower field. Visitors can enjoy both reading at the library and taking photos amid the floral scenery, immersing themselves in the spring ambiance. The sunflower and cosmos blooms will last until late April. Future plans include adding evergreen shrubs, seasonal flowers, a large lawn, and walking paths to create evolving landscapes. Be sure to visit this flower field soon.
