How to Spend Children’s Day Holiday: Family Fun with Flower Viewing & Chimei Museum in Tainan

With Children’s Day approaching, have you figured out how to spend this 4-day holiday? Tainan City is gearing up with exciting holiday events — perfect for a family adventure filled with shared joy. Flower lovers shouldn’t miss the wildly popular kapok tree-lined road in Linchupi, Baihe — ranked among the world’s 15 most beautiful flower streets by foreign media. Currently in full bloom, the stretch of kapok trees presents a spectacular sight, and the surrounding rural scenery is equally enchanting. The Tourism Bureau reports that bike rental stations (Tourism T-Bikes) have been set up at Wushulin Leisure Area, Houpi Jingliao Riceless Tourism Service Center, Putuo Chan Temple in Xiaonanhai Scenic Area, and the Baihe 7-11 Xinlianxiang Branch, among others. Bike rentals are free until April 5, 2016. Families are welcome to ride together through the rural backroads of Baihe and Houpi, soaking in the natural countryside views.

Additionally, the General’s District boasts the city’s densest and longest kapok tree avenues, earning it the title “Hometown of Kapok.” These trees are mainly found near Lengziliao (South Route 22), Jiachangli (South Route 21), General’s Junior High School, and nearby streets (South Routes 20 and 24), setting the humble country paths ablaze with vibrant color. Nearby, Xuejia’s hollyhocks are also in full bloom, displaying a riot of red, purple, white, and yellow hues that dazzle the eye. The flower fields feature pathways for visitors to stroll through the blooms, creating a stunning floral maze. Complementing the view are golden rapeseed fields, sunflowers, and cosmos flowers — a truly breathtaking scene.

Culture and art enthusiasts can visit the Chimei Museum, one of Taiwan’s most popular Instagram-worthy spots. The museum is currently offering the “Tainan Locals Guide the Way – Friends Enter Free” program. From March 23 to June 30, Tainan residents or students studying in Tainan can enjoy reservation-free entry by presenting valid ID, and can also bring friends from outside Tainan to enter without a reservation by purchasing tickets directly. Nearby, the Shihku Ren Tang Cultural and Creative Park not only features amazing performances by the Shihku Percussion Orchestra but also offers free Children’s Day workshops — kids under 12 can take part in a free DIY blessing drum ornament workshop.
