Following the huge success of the 2015 LINE-themed Colorful Rice Art Festival, the 2016 Pingtung Colorful Rice Festival returns on April 1st, this time moving to Longshui Village in Hengchun Town. This year’s colorful rice fields are a collaboration between the Pingtung County Government and the Evergreen Group, featuring a lovely 3D rice art motif of an airplane and Hengchun’s city gate created using five colors of colored rice — both adorable and eye-catching.

The “2016 Pingtung Colorful Rice Lifestyle Festival” runs for 38 days from April 1st to May 8th, showcasing a one-hectare painted rice field in Longshui Village, Hengchun Town. In collaboration with the Evergreen Group, not only has the group freely licensed its logo for use in the rice art design, but it has also provided shipping containers to create installation art viewing platforms and free airline tickets. During the festival, visitors who check in at the event and share photos have the chance to win round-trip free flights with Evergreen.

In addition to the painted rice fields, the Colorful Rice Lifestyle Festival also offers a variety of themed activities, including“Rice Wave Starry Sky Camping”, inviting everyone to experience a rustic night’s sleep in the rice fields;“Southern Cross Star Gazing”, as Hengchun is the only place in Taiwan where you can see the Southern Cross — come and experience it during spring break evenings; the“Rice Field Landscape Area”, created in collaboration with multiple artists, lets you capture the most beautiful pastoral views at any moment; a specially made“Bamboo-Shed Paddy Tea Seating Area”, where you can sit in the rice field and taste Hengchun’s uniquely bitter yet sweet Gangkou tea; additionally, since Longshui in Hengchun is home to Baoling Temple, the faith center that worships the Kitchen God, giving Longshui the reputation as the hometown of master banquet chefs, the highlight of this Colorful Rice Lifestyle Festival is the “Rice Field Dining Table-Master Chef Banquet”. Other rich activities include“One-Day Farmer Rice Planting Experience,” “Red Turtle|Experience,”DIY“Pingtung Century-Old Specialties Market,” “Colorful Rice Post Office,” “Peninsula Eco-Tourism”, and more.
