During the transition between spring and summer, the beautiful fireflies flicker and dance in the mountains of Nansi Meiling. The much-anticipated 2016 Tainan Nansi Meiling Firefly Season kicks off from April 23 (Sat) to May 8 (Sun), with the event taking place at Wulong Temple in Meiling and the Wulong Trail.

The “Fireflies Bringing Joy – A Season of Happiness” 2016 Tainan Nansi Meiling Firefly Season will hold its grand opening ceremony at 4:00 PM on April 23 (Sat) at the main venue, Wulong Temple. The opening day features a variety of enriching activities including “Plum Product DIY,” “Happy Farm Produce Tasting,” and more. Holiday-themed events during the firefly season such as “Sparkling Fireflies • Fun Firefly Viewing,” “Farmers’ Market,” and “Come to the Farm – Farming Experience” will also kick off on the opening day.
Nansi Meiling boasts beautiful scenery where you can enjoy scenic trails by day and the magical sight of countless fireflies lighting up the night sky. In recent years, with guidance and support from the municipal government and related agencies, rural experience activities in Meiling have matured and become truly captivating. Well-reputed local farm experiences are also worth trying. Coupled with popular nearby attractions in Guidan, Yujing, and Nansi, there are multiple cultural and nature-based travel routes to explore. You can pick plums to make your own plum jam or plum wine, try pit barbecue, stroll through plum blossom trails, savor plum meals, and then relax in hot springs in Guidan or Guanzi Ridge. For culture lovers, sites like the Jiang Family Ancestral House, Xuankong Buddhist Temple, and Yongxing Suspension Bridge are also worth visiting. Content: Stall market set up by local farmers from Nanxi Meiling, promoting regional agricultural specialties

Transportation: By car
1. Take National Freeway No. 1 to the Madou Interchange, then connect to Provincial Highway 171, turn onto Provincial Highway 1 heading south. After crossing Duto Bridge, connect to Freeway No. 84 to Yujing, turn left onto Provincial Highway 3 to Nanxi, then continue straight on County Road 188 to reach Meiling Leisure Agriculture Area.
